Ongoing economic performance, edition of 1.000.000
Since 11 years, I sell stamped, signed and numbered certificates out of an edition of 1.000.000 – for 1 Euro each. 39.957 of these sheets are already sold, saying so, there are only 960.043 left!!!!! Hurry up and BUY yourself some editions.
The story of this performance begins in spring 2010, when I placed myself in public space with a sign saying I want to become a millionaire. The result was so unexpected that I was to spend many hours standing there. The work became the economic backbone of my artistic practice, a regular source of creative capital for my projects (and sometimes just a funding my living). I am convinced that art should be a democratic good affordable for everyone as it is aboult building bridges between people and empathize with others. And I also learned that the principle of the many poor collectors is more sustainable than the principle of the few big collectors.
